The Intimidation Game interactive installation that stages a staring contest between a human participant and a machine.
Participants face a pair of mechanical or screen-based eyes and attempt not to blink; their blink is detected in real time using MediaPipe FaceMesh and an Eye Aspect Ratio (EAR) algorithm. The system records the time until visual “surrender”, framing blinking as a bodily interruption marker.
This artifact shows a page from a fictional children's Bible. The story of Lot and his daughters is told, but this time the daughter's perspective is emphasized.
The DA! Art Award is Düsseldorf’s secular art prize and has been awarded every two years since 2018 under a changing theme. In 2024, it was held under the motto “Check Your Dogma!” and called on artists to critically engage with religion, esotericism, irrationalism, and ideological rigidities. The nominated works were exhibited from September 7 to 28, 2024, at the Düsseldorf City Museum.
